Øverstu

On our small farm, surrounded by beautiful nature, sea and mountains, we offer a unique and relaxing experience for our guests. The holiday house is the original main house on the farm, and was built in 1905. With five bedrooms and nine beds, there is plenty of space for the whole extended family or a group of friends. In recent years, all rooms have been significantly upgraded, and in this process we have always emphasized that the house should meet today’s standard requirements while preserving its original charm. Here you will find everything you need for a comfortable and memorable holiday, with modern facilities and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We welcome you to Øverstu

Since 1994

Eva and Tore, Willy and Benedikte live in the neighboring houses and have been tourist hosts here on the farm for over thirty years. The first fishing tourists came here in 1994, when the catch was hauled out of the water from the farm’s old wooden boat. Since then it has gone from strength to strength. Now the wooden boat has been replaced with stable aluminum boats in various sizes, perfect for fishing and good experiences. On the farm you will also find indoor and outdoor filleting facilities, several freezers and the possibility to store fishing equipment between stays.

In recent years, several rules for reporting catches and exports of fish have come into force. Øverstu is a registered tourist fishing company, and we are there to help you along the way with both information about the current rules and filling in forms.

We are happy and grateful to see that many people choose to come back to us year after year. For us, it is important that safety, good experiences and satisfied guests should always be in focus. During your stay, we are easily accessible if problems should arise, and we will do our utmost to accommodate wishes and needs in order to create content-rich days and good holiday memories.

LIFE in the fjord

A sea of life

Trondheimsfjorden is Norway’s third longest fjord, and perhaps one of the world’s most species-rich cold sea fjords with strong currents and great depths down to 578 metres. Here you can catch almost any species that swims in “cold” salt water. Species such as cod, pollock, ling and mackerel are perhaps the most common, but also halibut, catfish, skate and other more “rare” species are regularly caught on pole.

In contrast to the great ocean, the Trondheimsfjord is well sheltered from the weather and wind, which often results in several fishing days per year. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced fisherman, if you are lucky and find yourself in the right place at the right time, there are also opportunities to haul up a really large trophy specimen here.
